Dr. John Song obtained his Medical Degree from Queen’s University in 1993. He went on to residency at the University of Ottawa in Orthopaedic Surgery, graduating from that program in 1998. He went on to finish an additional Fellowship there in 1999 subspecializing in Shoulder Surgery. Since 1999, he has been practicing at the Welland Site, when it was still known as the Welland County General Hospital. He also serves the Dunnville and South Niagara communities.
Among the added administrative duties in the new NHS, Dr. Song also holds a Professor Adjunct position for the McMaster Medical School taking on students and the occasional resident. Dr. Song also believes that success cannot be achieved without a strong team approach, and would like to acknowledge a few of these people who have helped shape his practice now: the late Dr. Szabo, Dr. Ansari, Dr. Rittenhouse, Dr. Gunton, Dr. Badawi, the rehab teams at Zero Gravity Physiotherapy & Greater Niagara Physotherapy, the Nurses and Staff in the Welland Hospital who work on the 4th floor and Operating Room, and of course, Marion Little and Chris Souder for keeping his office organized. We provide the world’s most cutting edge knee braces from top brands made with the latest in technology, materials and design, that are lightweight and provide the best support. Bracing can increase joint stability, improve alignment and reduce excessive movements (such as bending, twisting or side to side and front to back actions) that can aggravate the injury, cause pain and prevent proper healing. Braces help off load pressure, absorbing some of the force encountered from a return to activity. They allow you to get back to your active lifestyle quickly and safely, whether that means your favourite sport or simple day to day activities like walking.

Bone Stimulators are external devices that help fractured bones heal. Typically, fractures heal on their own, however, in some cases, healing stops completely, or is extremely delayed. This is called a 'non-union,' or a 'delayed union,' respectively. Bone stimulators are extremely effective at re-starting the healing process. Please call the office for more information.

One of the more common complications from breast implants is called “capsular contracture.” It comes about through the development of too much scar tissue forming around the implant, leaving it constricted within the pocket, revealing the shape of the implant, altering the shape, or becoming hard. At GNTP, we treat this uncomfortable and unsightly complication with Shockwave Therapy in conjunction with the patient's plastic surgeon.
Treatment for capsular contracture has several benefits, including:
• Improves natural lymphatic drainage
• Reduces edema
• Triggers the natural production of fibroblasts for natural healing
• Increases the speed of cellular regeneration
• Assists in the healing process
• Brings critical oxygen into the tissues
• Promotes new blood vessel regeneration
• Reduces inflammation
